Al Pesachowitz

Mr. Pesachowitz has over 30 years of Federal government experience including ten years in the management of budget and finance programs and systems including Senior Executive Service (SES) positions as Budget Director, Acting Comptroller and Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Over last past ten years of his federal career, he also directed information technology programs in the federal sector.

Mr. Pesachowitz’s last federal position was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Associate Assistant Administrator for the EPA’s Office of Environmental Information. In that role, he successfully led the Y2K conversion initiative, managed the 50 million-hit per month website, and developed and managed EPA’s environmental data warehouse.

Mr. Pesachowitz is very active and influential in the federal IRM business community. He has held committee chair and other leadership positions in government IT organizations including: Federal Information Resources Management Policy Council (Co-Chair, ‘94-’95); Federal Data Center Directors (Advisory Board from 1990-1994); Federal Chief Information Officers Council (Vice Chair in 1997); EPA’s Representative on the President’s Year 2000 Council (1998-2000); and Government Information Technology Service Board.

Mr. Pesachowitz was selected for SES, EPA, in 1987. In 1991 and again, in 1998, he won the U.S. President’s Meritorious Service Award. Three times, he was awarded Federal Computer Week’s prestigious “Top 100 Information Manager Award.” Mr. Pesachowitz was inducted into the Government Computer News IT Hall of Fame in November 2000.

Mr. Pesachowitz has been an independent consultant since November of 2003. He provides federal strategy and business development services to several companies including Grant Thornton, NCS Pearson, INDUS, Compubahn, and Guident. Prior to this role as an independent consultant, he was a senior manager at Grant Thornton from June of 2000 until November 2003 providing IT consulting as Director of Business Development for the Global Public Sector Group.
