The History of ATSC

Since our founding in 1978, our products and services have evolved to meet the shifting needs of our customers. But one thing has always remained constant -- our belief in three operational principles: Partnership. Delivery. Results.

In the beginning, with an initial focus on mainframe applications development, ATSC received its first prime contracts from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) – two clients we continue to serve to this day.

As technology evolved, our expertise expanded into enterprise architecture and systems implementation. We utilized the latest technologies to solve increasingly complex client challenges. For example, we set up HUD’s first website before the Internet was widely known.

Throughout the 1990s, our client portfolio greatly expanded to include agencies such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Department of Labor. In 2000, our enhanced information technology and infrastructure capabilities led to contracts at the Department of Education and at the Office of the Comptroller of Currency. This time period also marked the introduction of Appix, which specialized in fixed-income software and insurance consulting for such customers as Fannie Mae and Thomson Financial.

In the following years, we established ourselves in the public safety market with ATSC Voyager Wireless Enterprise Solutions -- web-based information and records management systems for law enforcement organizations such as the Department of Homeland Security as well as state and local jurisdictions. Strategic acquisitions of Reliable Integration Services, Potomac Management Group and Number Six Software followed, strengthening our capabilities in federal network system integration, maritime security and commercial applications development and expanding our customer base with long standing partnerships.

Today, ATSC is a publicly traded IT services company with over 750 employees at 12 locations across the country. We take great pride in our history, the clients we serve and the traditions we continue to uphold.
